YHC arrived after a slow mosey to Sherwood to see cars of EC runners already parked. Schlitz, Palin, and Greenspan soon came charging up at their 7 min/mile pace to join Chisel, Dr Toot, Boomerang, and Tammy. Tammy placed the shovel flag and we soon got to work. Warmarama: SSH, AV, Whirlies, Y-flies, arm circles,…
As YHC turned the calendar it was one of several reminders that I’m weeks away from my 65th birthday – medicare supplement mailers, social security statements, and Facebook posts showing fitness levels that indicate longevity and exercises to improve – most of which have some fee component if you buy into the total workout plan. …
New Year’s Day didn’t come with fireworks — it came with 26s. It’s like 11s … but more … much more. The PAX circled up for a brief (cough) warmup and onto the Thang, where they quickly learned this wasn’t a standard ladder. Instead, we stepped into the misery of 25–1, 24–2, 23–3 … all…
As the calendar creaked toward another year older and wiser (debatable), seven PAX gathered in the gloom at Mayhem to ring in the New Year the only way we know how: rocks, burpees, poor decisions, and brotherhood. Yours truly, Rollback, had the Q and made the controversial decision not to wear a weight vest. This…
During Tonka’s most recent beatdown at Alcatraz, as we were doing painful increasing reps of exercises, YHC asked if he ever did the Fibonacci beatdown. He answered in the negative. YHC quickly learned he had the Q at Parliament after reading the backblast on aforementioned beatdown. The numbers sure aligned here. In the Preblast, YHC…
Grabbed my bag o’ music and headed to Speas for a Q at Purgatory for the last one of the year. Started up tunes from Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. A good crowd rolled in and we jumped right in to Warmarama: SSH, Abe V, Whirlies, Y-flies, arm circles, Mike Phelps, squats. Then…
I did not plan to write this backblast so soon after the beatdown, but considering the peril my body is in after this morning, this is the only task YHC can muster the strength to accomplish. Sometimes you just want to sit down and complain. I don’t even have the energy to attempt to be…
The call went out and the PAX answered, assembling under cover of darkness for a Christmas journey that was never meant to be comfortable. The census was called, and the warm-up set the tone as we prepared for the long road ahead. Mary and Joseph’s journey became our own as partners took turns carrying the…
By my own dubious, non-scientific calculations, the merry band of Red Liners ran circa 250 miles this year in various bursts and 100, 200, 400, 800 meters and up and down hills. We ran our warm up lap over 50 times and never once did a side stradle hop or a merkin. We ran up to Carolina, up…
Some workouts are just workouts. This one was a marker. This morning, 17 HIMs gathered in the gloom to help YHC cross an arbitrary, unnecessary, and borderline stupid milestone: 50,000 burpees. No medals. No sponsorships. Just concrete, sweat, and brothers willing to show up early for something that made absolutely no sense on paper. The…
It’s not just proximity to House Wobegon; Reynolda Village is an objectively excellent space for an F3 Workout. So, anytime YHC can direct the pax there, you know I’m going to. Toot put out the Q-call for WIB, and here we are. It went like this: 4 stations. Start with 10 reps. Add 1…
After accusations that an AI has been writing previous backblasts, I want to assure everyone this was written by a real human being with thumbs, emotions, and a questionable relationship with em dashes. 🥃 RISING PROOF — A Backblast About Growth, Burn, and Choosing to Be Here AO: The Distillery Date: December 18 Theme: Rising…
