Run N Gun 11-13-17

The thang

  • 7 PAX Took a jaunt through Town and Country (aka JuiceBox and CapriSon’s hood) that went like this:

Speas launch

Right onto Polo

Left on Ransom

Right on Loch

Right on Briarcliff

Right on Reynolda

Right on Fairlawn

Left on Ransom

Right on Polo

Home to Speas

  • A few rounds of Tabata commenced (20 on 10 off as Dr. Tabata would have it)

Dips and WWII sit ups (4 reps of each for all)

Overhead claps and Squats

Irkins and Russian Twist

Low flutter to finish out

Moleskin

The roads were rain soaked and the temps chilly as we ventured out.  Mutton and I took off first and managed to hold back the pack until they figured out the route… at which time The Vig and Drano pulled away.  Everyone kept an impressive pace despite a few good rolling hills on Loch and Fairlawn.  Wiki and ‘Bout Time provided incentive for Glazer who in turn pulled me along.  At times, I thought I could pass him but then remembered he had the advantage of a 3 plus mile run-in warm up while I was on cold legs.  Did not want to pull anything… That’s my story, sticking to it.  Wiki may have been inspired by intestinal movements that required him to depart pre-Tabata…regardless, it was a speedy morning.

Announcements and prayer requests

  • Prayers for the Dr. Pollard and Dr. Anderson families at the loss of their husbands and fathers.
  • Prayers for Darryl Head and his father, his father is close to death.
  • ‘Bout time noted he had a good article on prayer and would send it out.
  • [I will frequently use an old back blast as a template. The one that I pulled up had several prayer requests from 9-26-17.  One for Caroline Woo (Boo-boo’s sister) who has since passed and one for LeFreak and M who had just had a miscarriage.  I led worship at Hope this week and got to look out on the LeFreak and his M holding their precious baby born in the last few months.  Life and death in the balance brothers!  Grateful for the fellowship we share.

On a not so bad rainy Monday morning, 3 brave and/or foolish Pax gathered at Whiley Middle School to run in a big 5k circle.  As per usual, your YHC launched a few minutes early so as not to be lapped by his faster brothers.  The route went like this:  Right on NW BLVD.  Left…

An even dozen gathered for this weeks installment of Run’N’Gun. Run: https://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/4225449040 Gun: a bit different this time wherein one by one we would go to the pull up bar and call an exercise for the rest of the PAX to perform while we did pullups or dead hangs for as long as we could….

3.10 miles around WFU in the wind and rain and also more wind. The snow came a few hours later. Third time I’ve used this route, so now it’s tradition. The workout was brief, under 45 minutes. The numbers were low, 3 of us with a 4th out on his own. The weather? About that….

Yesterday’s real big circle was brought to you by Mutton.  From Knollwood Church we made a right on Westview. Right on Country Club, Right on Miller and the last right on Knollwood back home.  3.3 Miles in all.  The weather was chilly, but the times were good. We had time for 3 rounds of Tabata….

  1. Aye! Was a nice speedy run. I thought I was being chased by you! Thought Bout Time said something to The Vig to make him mad when he took off. For the record, I always let Bout Time win on Monday’s.
    Second those praises.
