GQ Special – Dash In Motion (a/k/a What The Heck Is That Smell?
14 Dash Pax – likely expecting another nearby parking deck – got an inadvertent tribute to Lynard Skynard, new terrain (for many), 2.2 miles and stayed in constant motion:

Mosey 1/2 block to front steps of BB&T World HQ for COP and a bit of homage:
20 SSH
20 Parker Peters
20 Imperial Walkers
20 Peter Parkers
THE MOTION-
Now that the heart rate is up a few beats, time to run. Headed up hill on 2nd Street with 3-4 block Indian Run and then short break for a bit of core with Heels To Heaven, The Dolly and a duration of 6 inches.
Run two blocks down Chestnut and take right turn on 3rd Street for backwards run for 2 blocks. Enter trail head for newish Long Branch Trail. Lunge walk around parking posts and then partner up.
Mosey to small circle for some exercise I can’t remember. Called a few things on the fly but this one slipped my recall. So sue me.
Carioca down trail sidewalk to another circle for Trifecta. Partners run about 30 yards in one of 3 directions for called exercise. Rotate to other spoke and then to the third. Tun back to middle for Q to call out a Repeato:
o 1st set: Knee Jumps, plank jacks, partner declines
o 2nd set: Star Jacks, ski jumps, partner hand slap merkins
Mosey down the trail to benches near tunnel for:
o 20 dips
o 20 step ups
o 20 dips
o 20 (on-our-back for core something…you can sue me again for lost recall)
Short mosey to small grassy area for:
o 20 W’s (a/k/a The OB)
o 20 LBC’s
Run up hill of 3rd Street two blocks with half as backwards run
On corner of Chestnut and 3rd: 20 Box Cutters, 20 Rosalita and 20 Freddie Mercuries
Run two blocks up Chestnut to 2nd Street corner for Wall Squats (added pain with Muhammad Ali’s and shoulders/hips/toes)
Run two blocks up 2nd for micro park for some more core: flutter, 6 inches, protractor
Mosey to BB&T WHQ to fill an extra minute with some up and down stair runs and then AYG to COT.
COT: Count-a-rama, Name-a-rama, announcements and takeout by QIC.
Naked Man Moleskin
o Oh Root Canal…. We did not see him until he emerged from the shadows and joined us 30 feet from COT. Said he was a bit late (lesson # 1 to avoid grief form the pax) and was searching for us in all the usual places uptown. It was suggested an empty Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte cup and 1 left of a bakers dozen Krispy Kreme pumpkin creme doughnuts were found nearby. Not saying these things are related though.
o Best Bank In The Workout – Our first stop was at the HQ of BB&T, employer of your humble QIC, Klingon, and the last FNG’s your QIC has brought to The Dash in last 2 months. Just had to pay the homage.
o What’s In A Name – COP had a thriving discussion of how one spells Klingon/Clingon (new name of FNG named at conspiracy this week). Of course the chatter degraded into bathroom humor of what exactly a clingon actually is. Decorum prevents me from splainin’
o Starfish Returneth – Actually we are not sure if he ever left. Maybe this Austin thing is just a ruse cause every time I post at UA he is there. He was throwin’ mumblechatter directly at me during the COP so felt the love. I was doing all perfectly so not even sure what his thoughtful suggestion even were. Always nice to see you my brother!
o New Terrain – I discovered Long Branch Trail (parallels Research Parkway) on a scout out the night before. Many pax said they had never been there before. Really good terrain for many things (next time note the steep hills in between the forks…gotta be good for many things). You’re welcome.
o So, Really, What The Heck Is That Smell? One stop lead us to singing some Lynard Skynard…On our stop for some core work near end of LBT and 3rd Street, we encountered a pretty strong a heady smell of gas. Some wanted to blame a few on bean burrito night experienced on Thursday eve. Hope it was not that but natural gas from some nearby piping/equipment. In any case, nobody light a match.
o FNG Reminder – Still Winning – Not saying this out of ego, but excitement well all get to “evangelize” bringing new men to F3 (and women to FIA). I have brought 8 to F3 and introduced FIA in WS to another (this M says her fella will post soon) in last 60 days. Bring it on.
Takeout included asked for prayers for Whirley and Adams family for God to show His presence in loss and power of healing.
This was my 2nd Q for the Dash this week and it again was both fun and a privilege. Hope to give back again soon.
Bird Hole
Love that our visiting Q took us to new territory at Long Branch Trail on purpose! It should be noted that Thistle took us through there by accident while it was still under construction months ago…. In the dark.
